Dear Concerned Citizen:

Between January 2006 and June 2007, six of our children in Mesa County have died as a result of child abuse and neglect.  All of them were under the age of three. Three of them were beaten to death.

This is unacceptable and in an effort to prevent child abuse, Mesa County sponsored a special Town Hall Meeting- A Response to Child Abuse on Saturday October 20th. Over 80 people met to identify some of the causes of child abuse in Mesa County and developed plans to prevent child abuse. Goals were identified in several key areas including Family Support, Parent Education and Community Outreach.
