Seniors Leadership Commission
Monday was the first meeting of the new Seniors Leadership Commission. This commission is an outgrowth of the Seniors Citizen Initiative, known as Mesa County GOLD. Community leaders representing finance, legal, volunteerism, education, recreation and outlying areas including Fruita, Molina and Collbran were present at the first meeting but we will continue to add to the membership to include 15 to 20 members. The Seniors Leadership Commission will meet monthly. The next meeting is Thursday, February 28 at noon. Visitors and interested parties are welcome to attend. Meth Task Force
The Executive Committee of the Meth Task Force met on Wednesday. Fundraising efforts for 2008 were discussed but the primary topic was preparation for the upcoming Report to the Community Press Conference. At the Press Conference we will highlight accomplishments from 2007 and lay out the goals for 2008. The Press Conference will be held on Friday, February 15th at 10am in the Commissioner’s Public Hearing Room. This month Mesa County Commissioners were joined by District Attorney Pete Hautzinger, County Coroner Dean Havlik, and County Clerk Janice Rich at Aspen Street Coffee in Fruita to meet with residents from the Lower Valley.
Socioeconomic Impacts of Growth in North WestColorado
On Thursday, Club 20 hosted a presentation of the results of a study sponsored by Mesa State College’s Natural Resources and Land Policy Institute regarding the socioeconomic impacts that growth has had in North West Colorado. For a copy of the full report click here.
